The 2019 P3 Airport Summit in San Diego was buzzing as AIAI’s education track panels were standing room only, with public sector attendees eager to learn more about the P3 model and how they can apply it to their programs. AIAI presented ten panels over the course of the event, with members from a variety of sectors volunteering their time and expertise.

AIAI’s Kick Off reception was well attended, with guests enjoying the views of the city and Coronado Island as the sun set.

Our Q&A Breakfast Panel proved to be as popular as ever, and the overwhelming response from public sector conference attendees was that it was well worth the early start. We followed up with panels covering successful procurement, funding v financing, the top ten critical issues in P3 procurement, and “Why do an airport P3?”

As always, we hosted AIAI members and invited guests at dinner. Everyone enjoyed a lively evening of good food and company at Seasons 52 and the more adventurous went on to enjoy more of the San Diego nightlife!

Day two started with a conversation on deal structuring. picking advisors, risk allocation, and answered questions such as why do an airport P3? and how do I keep a P3? The conference wrapped up with a second Q&A session addressing next steps for public sector attendees. Many of our panels offer participants the chance to text in questions which are then answered in real time.

During the conference, attendees were encouraged to visit the AIAI booth where questions were answered and resources shared. Special thanks to our wonderful member, Mary Scott Nabers, who had kindly donated copies of her latest book to be shared with visitors. Public sector officials were delighted to be offered the chance to meet with our members to discuss their programs, and gain further information and education on the P3 model. AIAI members gladly volunteered their time and these opportunities seem to be appreciated by all.

We had the opportunity to meet with many agency representatives during the conference. Below we have posted highlights from several of the meetings.

As always, members proved that they are the core to everything we do, and we’re very grateful to everyone involved. Next up, Members Meeting in NYC in October!
